Allen Gilstrap

Chief Executive Officer

Allen has 22 years of global experience in the creation of technology-enabled new businesses within both Fortune 100 and venture capital funded environments. Allen has created and led businesses in the financial services, e-commerce, telecom, and loyalty/CRM space. Most recently Allen served as General Manager of American Express' Smart Solutions business based in London which delivered online commercial payment, mobile commerce, and smart card issuance solutions to 35 bank card issuing and merchant acquiring partnerships in 38 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and South America.

Prior to his eleven years with American Express, Allen worked for First Union National Bank where he lead the launch of VISA Cash, the first open-system electronic purse payment system in the United States introduced at the Atlanta Olympic Games. Prior to his financial services career, Allen was a partner in two start-up ventures, the first in marine biotechnology and the second in telecommunications.

Allen earned a MBA degree from Duke University and a B.S. degree in Journalism from the University of Kansas. He has served as a Director of Interactive Transaction Services, Ltd., Chairman of the Smart Card Alliance, on the Advisory Board of Proton World and on the Duke University, Fuqua School of Business Alumni Council.

 

OpenRevolution LLC is a privately held company that is building a global mobile e-money network.

OpenRevolution provides mobile transaction solutions that enable our partners and clients to deliver optimized payment services across m-commerce ecosystems and value chains.

Its three divisions include the Network Group, the Advisory Services Group, and the Investment Management Group. Headquartered in Washington, DC, it launched its first regional operating company, OpenRevolution Georgia JSC, in Tbilisi, Georgia in 2009 to service the Eurasian region. OpenRevolution was founded in 2008 and completed its Series A investment with Blue Heron Capital and V-Ten Capital Partners in August 2009.

V-Ten Capital Partners is a private equity firm owned by Mr. Richard L. Sharp. Mr. Sharp is the chairman of Crocs. He is the former chairman of Circuit City and a founding investor and former chairman of Flextronics, as well as co-founder and former chairman of CarMax.

Conan French

Senior Director, Corporate Development

Conan has more than a decade of experience working at the intersection of international affairs, public policy and development finance. Prior to OpenRevolution, Conan was Director for MicroEnterprise Development at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). In this role, he directed a 15-member office of microfinance, regulatory reform and business development experts who advise on the strategy, design, and technical direction of a global program active in 82 countries. Conan’s focus at USAID was the development of public-private partnerships. Under his direction, the office leveraged $5M in USAID funds into $215M in private sector lending to microfinance institutions. Conan earned his MBA from Georgetown University and his leadership in the micro-finance industry included serving as US Representative on the Council of Governors for the World Bank’s CGAP.

 

Job Henning

General Counsel

Job has 15 years of experience in corporate management and has worked in venture capital, mobile communications, and defense. He served on the congressional commission, the Project on National Security Reform. In 2007 he was a Senior Fellow at the Center for the Study of the Presidency in Washington, DC. Previously, Job was a Vice President at Hicks & Associates, a subsidiary of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and held a number of management positions at SAIC. Prior to SAIC, he worked for the New York investment group Schomann International in mobile systems in eastern Europe. He has a law degree from Georgetown University and a M.A. in international relations from The George Washington University. He is a graduate of Wheaton College. Job is a Member of the Virginia Bar Association and a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

 

OpenRevolution was founded by senior executives from the financial services, payment systems, management consulting, mobile telecom, and economic development sectors.
